It’s Nearly Christmas!

We’re here visiting my parents again, so I actually have internet access, at least for a few days. So I thought I’d do a quick update on what we’ve been up to.

When last I wrote, we were here for Thanksgiving. On our way home from here, the trasmission went out on our suburban. We were stranded in Waco, which was not very fun. We finally got a tow truck to tow the suburban home and a very nice lady gave us a ride back to our house. That, I guess was the biggest adventure we’ve had around here. We’ll be getting it fixed as soon as we can get our income tax back. I had planned on buying a new refrigerator with our income tax (we’ve been without a refrigerator for over 6 months and our freezer went out in late October). I’m hoping to have enough to fix the suburaban and get the refrigerator. Please keep that in your prayers for us, it would be greatly appreciated! My kiddos are getting tired of eating out of boxes and cans..LOL! We do have one of those electric ice chests and we’ve been using it as a refrigerator and it works okay, just doesn’t hold much and we can’t freeze anything. We have just been going to the store every evening to buy what we need for dinner. Until we get the suburban fixed, we’re driving Marty & Colt’s project car…a 1983 Jeep Wagoneer. It has a few issues with starting and the gas gage doesn’t work, but it gets us where we need to go! It’s actually a pretty neat car and if the boys ever get it all fixed up and all, it will be pretty cute. It drives well and I’ve only ran out of gas about 4 times…HEHEHE! We started carrying 3 gallons of gas with us at all times, so we won’t get stranded. I can’t wait to get my suburban fixed…I sure have missed it!

We’re going to be staying here at my parent’s house until the 26th and then we’re heading to my Brother-in-Laws for a couple of days. Marty has to be back at work on the 28th. I’ll try to post some pictures before we leave here, of our Christmas and that sort of thing. The kids are going bonkers waiting to open presents and have been extremely hyper…LOL! It’s that time of year when all kids get that way.

On December 12th, Riley turned 4 years old. I can’t believe that my baby is getting so big! We celebrated his birthday with my parents at a local restaraunt named Skillets. He made out like a bandit of course! I think he’s going to be an early reader, he’s picking up the letters and their sounds really quickly…if only he’d catch on with potty training that well. I spent all last week setting the timer for 30 minutes and taking him to the bathroom everytime the timer rang. I have yet to “catch” him at the right time. It’s very frustrating to say the least. I think once we can catch him a few times that it will go a bit easier. We’ll start again when we get back home after Christmas. I guess, I’ll start setting the timer for every 15 minutes . That, and I’m going to try putting him in regular underwear and see if that will help. Pull-ups are just too much like diapers. We’ll see…

Since Thanksgiving, we’ve all been sick with upper resp. problems. Just about the time we start getting well, it hits someone else again. The kids have had it the worst, they cough everytime they lay down flat….vick vabor rub helps. They cough for the first 1-2 hours when the go to bed, and then it settles down. Tonight, I gave Riley some cough medicine, I sure hope it helps him…he’s sleeping with Grammy and Grandpa tonight (maybe I’ll get some sleep tonight!!)

Well, I’ve got to get off here, Marty would like to get online for a bit before we go to bed. I’ll try to update again before we leave here. If I don’t make it, I do want to wish you all a very Blessed Christmas! Love you all and miss you bunches!
